Botox: Before Injections

When we smile, laugh or frown, we contract the muscles of our face. Over time, these contractions produce permanent creases and deep wrinkles in the skin, especially around the eyes and mouth, between the eyebrows, and on the forehead. These lines can make us look older or tired. Botox® treatments can prevent from deepening the lines and can also erase these marks of aging, leaving us looking younger and refreshed.

Botox® (Botulinum Toxin) was discovered almost twenty years ago and it was initially used to treat continuous muscle twitching around the eyes. With its approval for cosmetic facial use, it has become one of the most performed non-surgical cosmetic procedures in the world. With millions of patients being injected each year, the safety and effectiveness of Botox® is undisputed.

Using a micro-needle, small amounts of Botox® are injected into specific facial muscles. It relaxes (paralyzes) the muscles and stops them from forming lines and wrinkles, resulting in a more youthful appearance. The muscular paralysis, while highly effective, is not a permanent remedy; periodic re-treatments are needed to achieve long lasting results. There are no known negative effects to repeated injections over time, nor has it been shown that Botox® becomes less effective with repeated exposures.

Botox® may also be used in conjunction with cosmetic surgery including a brow lift, face lift, eyelid surgery & laser skin resurfacing to enhance and maintain results for longer periods of time.
